DeShawn Stevenson’s Neck and Face Tattoos Bewilder and Scream, “Four Score, and Seven Years Ago …”

Deshawn Stevenson has always been an eccentric fellow. From his celebrations, to his memorable shooting contest with Gilbert Arenas, to his trash-talking with LeBron James, DeShawn Stevenson is one of the league’s most interesting players. These new tattoos - yes, that’s Abraham Lincoln in the middle of his neck - cement that reputation. For more interesting Washington Wizards fun, there’s a story about some members of the team getting hypnotized.

That’ll be all for today.Source: The Big Lead RSS Feed

Penguins receive Championship Rings

Pittsburgh Penguins players, coaches, hockey staff and executives received their 2009 Stanley Cup championship rings at a private ceremony Tuesday night. Manufactured by Intergold, the rings were designed in consultation with Penguins owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle, general manager Ray Shero and head coach Dan Bylsma.

“The ring is a lasting symbol of the championship effort of our players, coaches, staff and organization,” the Penguins said in a statement. “We want toSource: Kukla's Korner RSS Feed

So Which NFL Player Will be First to Dawn a Homer Simpson Mask?

This is Nick Ferguson of the Houston Texans. There’s a very good chance Nick already has a pending debit of $10,000 in his account from Lord Goodell.

Or perhaps it’ll be a $20,000 fine in an effort to prevent any future childish, improper, unprofessional, immature, juvenile antics such as this from happening.

Worth noting that if Shaq were in the No Fun League, he would’ve worn the entire Vader outfit. He’d also be broke.

C.C. Shuts Down the Red Sox

C.C. Sabathia dominated a resting Red Sox lineup today to make the rest of the regular season meaningless for both teams. The Red Sox managed just 1 hit off of Sabathia and 1 off of the Yankees pen. The good news is that V-Mart had one of the hits and extended his hitting streak.
Dice-K pitched very well again giving up just 1 run on a homer in 7 innings. Billy Wagner was wild in the 8th and ended up letting 2 more Yankee runs score.
In the end the game did not reallySource: Fenway West RSS Feed

Today we’re adding a couple new features to SbB.

Bookmark that. It’ll be Source: SPORTSbyBROOKS RSS Feed

Pete Carroll Doesn’t Think Much Of Terrelle Pryor

For the college football fans among us, if you haven’t already, you’ll want to check out the complete dismantling of the Jim Tressel offense featured on DR. SATURDAY today. It’s as thorough a damnation of the system in which Terrelle Pryor toils as you can imagine, and it highlights just how remarkable it is that Ohio State actually let USC win last Saturday’s game. No offense to Matt Barkley or anything, but seriously: OSU should have won handily.

Bowa Clarifies His Position : Penny’s Not A Malingerer (He’s Just Lazy)

Newly acquired P Brad Penny took a shutout into the 7th inning of San Francisco’s 7-2 defeat of the Dodgers Sunday, a result that left the Giants within 4.5 games of the Rockies for the NL Wild Card (with Colorado coming to town this week). A day prior, Penny received a good luck message from an unexpected source, LA third base coach Larry Bowa, formerly a vocal critic of the ex-Dodger starter. Perhaps presently, too, if the following quotes collected by the LA Daily News’Source: Can't Stop the Bleeding RSS Feed

Get Some Sleep, For Tomorrow You’ll Be Glued to the Sofa

Here’s the Saturday plan: Hoops in the AM, followed by a movie (Extract?) and then Notre Dame vs. Michigan. We will be blaring this song out the windows tomorrow following every Irish score. There may even be marching and saluting involved. We’re more excited for this game than the nightcap because A) It should be competitive, B) the losing coach is likely to be hammered in the press/on blogs, C) We seem to be the only ones who think Ohio State is going to defeat USC. At any rate,

Carlos Delgado is Moises Alou all over again...

I admit it, in 2007 when the Mets signed Moises Alou to a one year deal worth 7.5MM with an option for the next year I supported the move. At what power hitting corner outfielders were costing the move made sense and even if he was an injury risk at 40 y/o, the team had Milledge, Martinez and Gomez to cut their teeth in the majors when he went down. Even though he only appeared in 87 games, after hitting .341 with a .521 Slg pct. it made sense to bring him back especially after the team got
