Newly acquired P Brad Penny took a shutout into the 7th inning of San Francisco’s 7-2 defeat of the Dodgers Sunday, a result that left the Giants within 4.5 games of the Rockies for the NL Wild Card (with Colorado coming to town this week). A day prior, Penny received a good luck message from an unexpected source, LA third base coach Larry Bowa, formerly a vocal critic of the ex-Dodger starter.
